w2/3: Introduction /2547

In this session we will review the assessment for the module and the discuss the expected practice for the case study seminars  – it is important that you attend, but no preparation is required.

Having looked at the module handbook will be useful (especially pp25-30). The diagram below maps how time will be spent and where particpation and engagement marks will come from in the case study seminars. The labs do not require preparation but will produce a mark based on completing the set worksheet in class.

How will marks be accrued in case study seminars

Missed a seminar or lab?

  • Notify tutor within 24 hours by email (or even better, beforehand) to rearrange attendance at a different seminar/lab or individual session.
  • Beyond 24 hours, you have 14 days from the missed class to submit the relevant worksheet but maximum mark is 40% (ie 2/5 marks).
  • The same applies if a student attempts to attend a case study seminar without preparation (ie contact tutor to arrange how to catch up, within 24 hours).
